川普2日與蔡英文通電話，打破了美國數十年來的外交慣例，恐將引發與中國大陸的嚴重爭端。彭斯接受國家廣播公司電視網（NBC）的 「會晤新聞界」（Meet the Press）節目訪問，談起此事時表示：「這只是通禮貌性電話。台灣的民選總統致電向總統當選人道賀。」











  • 美聯社報導，彭斯對中國的不滿不以為意，認為只是媒體炒作。他指出，川普自11月8日的大選過後，至今已與世界各國領袖通了約50次電話。彭斯也表示，他不知道在川普與蔡英文通電話後，川普或他的顧問是否與中國官員有過任何接觸。詢以川普是否會為此事在本週致電中國領導人以緩和關係，他表示，可能不會。
